Vanguard Diagnostics is a development and manufacturing company in the in-vitro Diagnostics space and was founded in February, 2015 at New Delhi. Its flagship product line is Hematology. During the pandemic, the company decided to channelize its energy towards meeting the need of the hour and came up with solutions for Covid-19.

The company developed the VDx Viral Transport Kit which is a 100% ‘Made in India’ product.

It is a specially designed product, for the safe collection and transport of Covid -19 specimens, to the laboratory, for testing by the RT PCR method. The company was able to up-scale this product from a batch size of one Litre to 10 Litres batches within one week and increase the production capacity by 400-fold in 4 weeks.

The company was awarded by FICCI in the year 2020 for ‘Excellence in Scaling up Manufacturing for Meeting the Covid-19 demand. 

Vanguard Diagnostics collaborated with DIPAS DRDO to jointly develop the DIPAS-VDx Covid-19 IgG Antibody ELISA Test kit for the detection of Covid-19 IgG antibody in June 2020. The product received ICMR approval and a license to manufacture from the CDSCO. The kit has been commercialized successfully.

The company follows a B2B model in business, positioning itself as a development and manufacturing entity in the various segments of in-vitro diagnostics like Hematology, Clinical Chemistry and Rapid Card Tests, ELISA Kits and Flowcytometry reagents with a capacity to manufacture 1.5Mn Litres of IVD reagents annually. 

Recently, Vanguard Diagnostics has announced the formation of Diagon - Vanguard Diagnostics India (P) Limited, a joint venture between long-term partners – Diagon Ltd, Hungary and Vanguard Diagnostics (P) Ltd.

Veena Kohli is the CEO and Founder of Vanguard Diagnostics and the Managing director of the newly formed JV, Diagon-Vanguard Diagnostics India.

As an accomplished and award-winning leader in Medical Diagnostics, Veena has led global businesses, set up companies and nurtured talent into senior management positions. With over 30 years of experience, she has led large teams across various functions ranging from R&D to the Global P&L.

Additionally, Veena also serves as President, Association of Diagnostics Manufacturers of India (ADMI); Convenor, IVD sub-group at the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS); Member, Standing Forum of Medical Devices Associations, Department of Pharma,  Ministry of  Chemicals & Fertilizers; Member, Committee for planning the way forward for Covid-19 Medical Devices, Department of Pharma, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers; Member, Committee for examining issues related to Medical Devices, Department of Pharma, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers.
