Sanrai has been selected as a Grant Winner of the Oxygen Co-Lab “Oxygen as a Service” (O2aaS) Competition.
The competition was run by Covid Action and the Oxygen Co-Lab, with the majority of the funding coming from FCDO UK Aid. After 3 rounds, including a Dragons Den style pitch to judges from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), Grand Challenges Canada, UNICEF, Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), and others, Sanrai has emerged as one of only two awardees!
Sanrai will be running a program providing American made Drive DeVilbiss 10 LPM Oxygen Concentrators in at least 10 hospitals across Chandigarh, Punjab, and Haryana in city and rural government hospitals.
The Objective of this Pilot Project is to prove to the Indian government and hospital institutions that a reliable source of oxygen is possible without relying only on filled cylinders that are regularly refilled and replaced offsite.
Currently the Indian oxygen delivery system is reliant on a complex infrastructure involving payments, forecasting, ordering, and delivery across a poor transportation network. The organization aims to prove an alternative to the existing system exists as a cost competitive and more reliable, sustainable solution. Within 6 months, the company aims to demonstrate:-
. A savings in cost per litre of oxygen
. An increase in the available litres per oxygen in the hospital
. Oxygen being used in wards that it was not previously being used in (like maternal care, outpatient surgery clinics, wound care centers, etc.)
By using oxygen concentrators, hospitals can easily increase the amount of available oxygen immediately. The company’s goal is to share the successes and learnings from this program to improve access to oxygen in all emerging markets.
“Sanrai aims to always be pushing the boundary of what’s possible to reduce costs and improve service for oxygen delivery. We thank the Oxygen Co-Lab team, Covid Actions, Foreign, Commonwealth, & Development Office UK (FCDO), and UNICEF for this delightful honour and the opportunity to keep developing new solutions”, said Amarpreet Rai, marking the milestone.
