The Microbiologists Society of India (MSI) has awarded Dr. Gangadhar M. Warke, Founder & CMD, HiMedia Laboratories with the ‘First Fellow of MSI’. The fellowship was awarded in appreciation for his extensive contribution towards the Indian microbiology industry, and allied sciences, his outstanding direction, leadership and dedicated services as the founder of the media making giant.
The fellowship was presented by Prof. K. R. S. Sambasivarao, Vice Chancellor, Mizoram University, in presence of Prof. Arvind Deshmukh, President, Microbiologists Society, India.
The ceremony was conducted on virtual platform on 10th October 2021. The selection of the award was done by an eminent jury set up by Prof. Arvind Deshmukh, President, Microbiologists Society, India and Dr A. Archana, President, Microbiologists Society, India- Delhi Unit.
Dr Bela M. Nabar, Head Prof. Department of Microbiology, Smt CHM College, Ulhasnagar and Dr Deepak B. Thakare, Former Vice Principal & Head of Microbiology Department, Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil College, Vashi, Navi Mumbai were present in person at HiMedia headquarters during the ceremony and handed over the scroll and memento on behalf of Prof. K. R. S. Sambasivarao.
The ceremony was also attended by family members of Dr G. M. Warke, which included his wife, Mrs Saroj Warke and his younger brother, Mr. V. M. Warke, both co-founders of HiMedia Laboratories. Other members of the family present were Dr Vishal G. Warke, Director- Cell Culture, Immunology and Hydroponics, Dr Priti V. Warke, Director- Cell Culture and Head- Regulatory Affairs, Dr Rahul G. Warke, Director- R&D Microbiology, Dr Rajas V. Warke, Director- Molecular Biology and his sister, Dr Kavita Khadke, Director- Molecular Biology. Besides these, all other family members graced the grand occasion.
