DIAGNOSING THE DOCTORS UNIVERSE

Doctor’s Day Virtual Program hosted by Voice of Healthcare & Manipal Hospitals takes a look at the profession’s priorities.

 On the occasion of Doctor’s Day 2022, Voice of Healthcare organized a day-long virtual intervention with Manipal Hospitals which was attended by some of the most distinguished and dynamic names from the industry. This was the 2nd edition of VOH’s annual DOCTORS' DAY series, aptly christened MORE THAN A DOCTOR as a tribute to the many roles and avatars doctors play in our lives.  

Voice of Healthcare hosted a series of LIVE discussions all throughout the day. Exchanges and ideas were aimed at appreciating the efforts of doctors as well as understanding the areas of the healthcare ecosystem that need urgent attention. Panels touched upon 4 burning topics of the current times:

The event kicked off with the topic: General Practice: Promoting Compassionate & Culturally Responsive Healthcare in India, in which, the importance of care that is culturally aligned and compassionately delivered was discussed. Experts from Manipal hospitals Dr. Pramod V Satya, Consultant - Internal Medicine, Manipal Hospital Millers Road; Dr. Dinesh Kamath, Senior Consultant - Internal Medicine, Manipal Hospital Malleshwaram; Dr. Aravinda GM, Consultant - Internal Medicine, Manipal Hospital Jayanagar and Dr. Arun Karthik, Consultant - Internal medicine, Manipal Hospital Salem threw light on this topic.

This was followed by a Panel discussion that dwelled on the Future of Care: Improving Millions of Lives through Connected Health – a burning topic that is currently on the tip of everybody’s tongue. Dr. Satyanarayana Mysore, HOD & Consultant-Pulmonology, Lung Transplant, Physician, Manipal Hospital Old Airport Road; Dr Abhijit Bhograj, Consultant- Endocrinology, Manipal Hospital Hebbal; Dr. Avinash KM, Consultant- Neuro and Spine Surgery, and Interventional Neurosurgery Manipal Hospital, Hebbal & Yeshwanthpur and Dr. Mohammed Rehan Sayeed, Consultant- Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgery, Manipal Hospital, Yeshwanthpur & Hebbal provided expert insights.

The next session, on the topic of Digital Radiology: Empowering & Improving Efficiencies in Healthcare, investigated the power of tech-driven Radiology to transform healthcare outcomes measurably, and the same was explored. Dr. Nagabhushan KN, Consultant - Interventional Radiology, Manipal Hospital Whitefield; Dr. Vadhiraja B M, HOD & Consultant – Radiotherapy, Manipal Hospital Old Airport Road; Dr Rajesh Helavar, Consultant - Interventional Radiology, Manipal Hospital Yeshwanthpur and Dr Sudarshan Rawat, HOD & Consultant – Radiology, Manipal Hospital Old Airport Road constituted the expert set of panelists.

Finally, the Doctors of the Future panel crystal gazed into the emerging avatar of the profession: Future Doctors, and also decoded the skills, mindsets and priorities necessary for this noble profession to take on the challenges on the oncoming future. Dr. Rajesh Mohan Shetty, Lead Consultant, Department of Critical Care Medicine, Chief of Clinical Services, Manipal Hospital Whitefield; Dr. Rohit Kumar, Consultant - Surgical Oncology, Manipal Comprehensive Cancer Centre, Manipal Hospital Old Airport Road and Sarjapur; Dr. Rajiv Lochan J, Lead Consultant - HPB and Liver Transplantation Surgery, Manipal Hospital Old Airport Road Yeshwanthpur and Sarjapur, Bengaluru and Dr. Mukundan Sheshadri, Consultant - Cardiothoracic Vascular Surgery, Manipal Hospital Whitefield were the eminent guests that were interviewed. The sessions were moderated by Dr. Asawari Savant from Team VOH.
