India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the 2,400-bed hospital on August 24, 2022.
Being set up by Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Faridabad’s Amrita Hospital is India’s largest private sector hospital, and the second large-scale hospital by the Mata Amritanandamayi Math – following the original one established 25 years ago in Kochi.
Humanitarian and spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma) will be present on the occasion. Governor of Haryana Bandaru Dattatreya and Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar will be the other dignitaries expected to grace the inaugural function.
The sprawling facility in Faridabad Sector–88 will have a total built-up area of one crore sq. ft., with a 14-floor tower that will encompass the key medical facilities and patient areas. It will be home to 81 specialities and eight centres of excellence, including oncology, cardiac sciences, neurosciences, gastro-sciences, renal sciences, bone diseases & trauma, transplants, and mother & child care. The hospital will have a dedicated research block spread across a seven-floor building. There'll be a focus on identifying newer diagnostic markers, AI, ML, and bioinformatics. Once fully operational, the hospital will have around 10,000 staff and more than 800 doctors.
According to official statements, the hospital leadership will look beyond just pioneering the latest in healthcare technology and high-quality patient care in the Delhi-NCR region. Amongst its other big goals is to democratize healthcare, amplify access to world class healthcare for North and North-East India, and generate employment and livelihood support to the Faridabad region.
Addressing the media on the occasion, Dr Sanjeev K Singh - resident medical director of Amrita Hospital, Faridabad – shared, "The hospital will have a dedicated research block spread across a seven-floor building that totals three lakh sq. ft. with exclusive Grade A to D GMP labs. There will be a focus on identifying newer diagnostic markers, artificial intelligence, machine learning, bioinformatics, etc. We are in the process of entering into research collaborations with some of the world’s biggest names in medical science. The comprehensive transplant programme offered by the hospital will be among the biggest in the country.”
Amrita Hospital, Kochi, has pioneered surgeries with India’s first two double hand transplants and the country’s first upper-arm double hand transplant, amongst several other procedures, and this knowledge will be carried forward to Amrita Hospital, Faridabad.
Amrita Hospital Faridabad will also have India’s largest facility to tackle infectious diseases. As part of its community initiatives, Amrita Hospital have already started medical outreach programmes at various residents welfare associations in and around Faridabad. These include awareness programmes for the elderly with a focus on those suffering from neurological ailments, health talks for school children and general health check-ups.
