National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) in association with Apollo CBCC successfully organised and conducted a one day Continued Medical Education (CME) programme on “HEMATOLOGY FOR ALL” on 4th of December 2022 at Ahmedabad.
The CME was aimed to address common hematological problems and dilemmas frequently faced by the medical fraternity while delivering health care to the society. Topics selected were conditions commonly seen in India and specifically in Gujarat state. The disorders covered in CME spanned from Iron deficiency anemia in children, adults and pregnant ladies discussing the national burden & the programs available in the country, platelet disorders, thalassemias, hemoglobinopathies, pregnancy related and pediatric hematological disorders, blood clotting, bleeding disorders and hematological aspects of covid-19 and dengue.
Dignitaries included Chief guest Dr. Abhijat Sheth, president National Board of Examinations and Director Medical Services, Apollo Hospital, Gandhinagar, and Mr B Ramesh, CEO, Comprehensive Blood and cancer Care. Convener of National Academy of Medical Sciences for Gujarat state Lt Gen (Dr.) Velu Nair was involved in seamlessly conducting the CME with scientific committee comprising of Organising secretary Dr. Hemant Menghani, Jt Organising secretary Dr. Ankit Jitani, Treasurer Dr. Vijaykumar Shirure.
The main target audience were medical officers, family practitioners, post graduate students and faculties of medical colleges. The speakers comprised of eminent orators from Gujarat and other states. There was very healthy and overwhelming response with approximately 250 in person registrations and 180 registrations on virtual platform. The delegates were mainly drawn from Gujarat state for in person and pan India for virtual platform.
An interesting pre and post conference quiz was organised generating ample enthusiasm amongst the delegates. The winners were awarded with attractive prizes. CME was granted 4 credit points by Gujarat Medical Council. The feedback received bears witness to the success of the CME.
