The First Active Bone Conduction Implant (Bone Bridge - BCI-602) in India was done at Apollo Hospital

The First Active Bone Conduction Implant (Bone Bridge - BCI-602) in India was done at Apollo Hospital on 23/1/23 On a patient named Aadi Snehalkumar Shah aged 8 years.

Bone Bridge is the world's first Active Bone Conduction Implant.

It uses the Transcutaneous technology already proven in Cochlear Implants.

Bone Bridge System consists of 2 parts 1) Receiver Stimulator 2) Audio Processor

The Receiver Stimulator is Surgically Implanted in Skull under the intact skin & it’s BC-FMT(Bone Conduction Floating Mass Transducer) is fitted with cortical screws.

First Active Bone Conduction Implant

The Audio Processor is worn externally over the skin.

Sound signals are picked by the Audio Processor- digitally coded & transmitted wirelessly to the implanted Receiver which in turn - decodes the Signals & Converts it in to Vibration.

This Vibratory signals are transmitted to the cochlea which converts it into electrical signals & sends it to the Brain which perceives it as Sound.

Bone Bridge is a Boon for Pts who are born without External Ear !!

Pts having Anotia (No Ear), Microtia (small- miniature Ear), Canal Atresia (Abscence of Ear canal).

These Pts have a Normal Cochlea & Cochlear Nerve But Deformed/ Absent External & middle ear So Sound Cannot Reach the inner ear. And so have Conductive Hearing loss !

These Pts are so Hard of Hearing that they have extreme difficulty in developing speech and Studies.

Bone Bridge- bridges this Developmental & Educational Gap & Enables them to Hear Well & develop Normal Speech & Excel in Studies.
