Rajendra Prasad Medical College, Tanda, is setting new standards in healthcare by offering free-of-charge kidney transplant surgeries under the Himcare and Ayushman Yojana schemes. This initiative aims to ensure accessible healthcare for all, announced Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) Chairman RS Bali.
During a press conference held at the medical library on Saturday, RS Bali revealed that Tanda Medical College has achieved a significant milestone by successfully conducting its first kidney transplant. This marks a new chapter in the medical college's history, highlighting its growing capabilities in advanced medical procedures.
The successful kidney transplant, performed by a dedicated team of doctors at Tanda Medical College, significantly benefits local patients who previously had to travel to PGI or AIIMS for such treatments. With the introduction of this service, residents can now receive high-quality medical care closer to home.
RS Bali praised the relentless efforts of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, whose continuous feedback and support were crucial in achieving this milestone. He also extended his gratitude to the doctors at PGI for their invaluable support.
In addition to the kidney transplant facility, Tanda Medical College already offers heart piercing and valve transplant services, further solidifying its reputation as a leading healthcare institution. The next goals include introducing open-heart surgery and establishing a state-of-the-art trauma centre, reflecting the government's commitment to providing high-level healthcare services.
Furthermore, the Nursing School at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Medical College has been upgraded to a Nursing College, and plans are underway to establish a Lactation Management Center to support breastfeeding mothers and infants.
Principal Dr. Milap Sharma attributed the success of the kidney transplant to the continuous efforts of RS Bali and the dedicated team at Tanda Medical College, underscoring the institution's commitment to advancing healthcare services in the region.
