The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) Western Region office has suspended the license of a Pune-based ice cream manufacturer following an alarming complaint from a 26-year-old doctor from Malad West. The doctor reported discovering a human finger in an ice cream cone on Wednesday.
"A team from FSSAI's Western Region Office inspected the manufacturer's premises, resulting in the suspension of its license," the FSSAI stated in response to ANI.
The forensic lab report on the incident is still pending.
The ice cream manufacturer, located in Indapur, Pune, holds a central license, according to the FSSAI. "The manufacturer is based in Indapur, Pune, and holds a central license," reiterated the FSSAI.
For further investigation, FSSAI officials have collected samples from the seller's premises. "The State FDA has also inspected the seller's premises in Mumbai and taken samples of the batch," the FSSAI added.
The complainant, Branded Ferro, detailed in his police report that he had ordered three ice creams from the brand Yumno via a grocery app around 10:10 pm when his sister was visiting. He stated that upon taking a bite from one of the cones, he felt something unusual in his mouth, which he identified as finger-like flesh. Ferro documented the incident with photographs and shared them on the company's Instagram page.
